King Mohammed VI himself is very involved in the development of golf courses in Morocco. He has given his name to various tournaments and continues to be a huge fan of the sport in this country.

This area is well known to golf enthusiasts. Novo Sancti Petri’s 36-hole course was designed by world famous golfer Severiano Ballesteros. There is also a 9-hole course (Golf Campano) just south of Chiclana, heading towards Algeciras.

The Sancti Petri Course is located in the Novo Sancti Petri complex, alongside La Barrosa beach. It’s a relatively new complex that occupies approximately 400 hectares. Its development has stemmed from a new kind of tourism philosophy, where activities are promoted, not just sand and sea.

The course is suited to both experts and beginners, and has a practising area for up to 40 people. There are 27 holes in total – so if you want, you can play three runs of nine holes. It has wide fairways surrounded by many different types of trees. Palm trees, in particular, dominate the landscape. It really is, quite a beautiful course.

Novo Sancti Petri is 30 kms from Cadiz, 50kms from Jerez, 120kms from Gibraltar, 155kms from Seville and 240kms from Malaga.
